You will usually have been asked to see a notary because you have a document that needs to be used abroad. Seeing a notary is never just a rubber-stamping exercise. The overseas party will rely on the notary complying with the relevant requirements both here and abroad. Great care is essential at every stage to minimise the risks of errors, omissions, alterations, fraud, forgery, money laundering or the use of false identity.
A notary public is a specialised lawyer appointed and regulated by the Faculty Office of the Archbishop of Canterbury to verify facts, witness deeds, and authenticate documents for use in legal jurisdictions outside of England and Wales.
A notary public verifies the authenticity of a document and must assess whether the person entering into a transaction has the capacity, will and understanding to do so.
I offer appointments during business hours and occasionally outside of these times. I may see clients in the office or make home visits.
I see clients throughout Dorset, Somerset and Hampshire from Dorchester and Poundbury to Sherborne, Crewkerne and Portland and beyond.
